Jennifer Muscatel, the owner of Sugar & Swank, began using mineral make-up in 1993 when she came home from college with an extreme case of cystic acne. Her mother took her to a Los Angeles make-up artist specializing in mineral make-up. The woman had displays of beautifully colored mineral powders that could be used as shadows, blushes or foundation. The best part was that she could actually custom blend a foundation to match the color and tone of Jennifer’s skin precisely by mixing a specific combination of the colored minerals.

When Jennifer moved to Seattle in March of 2005 she found herself without custom-blended mineral foundation. Sure there were pre-packaged alternatives, but none matched her skin as well, none provided such wonderful coverage and none kept her skin as clear. So in September of 2006 Jennifer decided to travel to Dallas to train with Mineralogie, the top-rated mineral make-up manufacturer in the United States so that she could share the beauty of mineral make-up with Seattle.
